Psychotic mother who killed her baby in court | Inland

Justice suspects the woman of murder. E. is said to have killed her baby with brute force a few weeks after birth. After that, she would have hidden the baby body in a sports bag.

The woman is also being charged with serious assault on her 7-year-old daughter. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the mother stabbed her in an arm with a pointed object, such as scissors. That would have happened in the same period that the baby was murdered, says E.’s lawyer Theo Schut.

Psychosis

This eldest daughter was already strangled by her psychotic mother in 2014, which she then barely survived. The mother was released from prosecution in 2015 and received intensive psychological counseling in subsequent years. According to her lawyer, who kept in regular contact with the mother in the years that followed, these therapies worked and she seemed to work out well.

Schut says the woman was most likely under the influence of psychosis again in August when she killed her baby. It is up to experts to determine this on the basis of a new personality survey.

The family was supervised by the Youth Protection and a number of other aid agencies. In August, the Youth Protection Agency responded with great dismay to the find of the dead baby in the family.
