(GM) Bernhard Trares has never shrunk away from difficult tasks. When he became a coach at SV Waldhof in January 2018, it was clear that there was only one goal: promotion to the 3rd division. That didn’t work out at the end of the 2018 season and it was almost worse – the game against KFC Uerdingen was abandoned after spectator riots in the relegation second leg.

With the mortgage of a point deduction, SV Waldhof went into the following season and yet the goal was again “promotion”. Bernhard Trares took on this task and, as is well known, he mastered it with flying colors.

After his departure from SV Waldhof – regretted by all Waldhof fans – he now accepted the offer of the second division club, Würzburger Kickers, who was threatened with relegation. These stand behind in the last place in the table, with just one point. Now the 55-year-old arrived before SV Waldhof in the 2nd Bundesliga. But we are sure: Just as Bernhard Trares proved after his promotion with the Waldhof that he can do the 3rd division, he will prove in Würzburg that he can also do the 2nd division. We wish him all the best and every success.
