Tonny Vilhena left the training camp of the Dutch national team on Tuesday. The 25-year-old midfielder has tested positive for the corona virus.
The KNVB writes in a statement that Vilhena has no complaints and went into home isolation immediately after the results of the corona test.
The association does not report whether other Orange players must also be quarantined. The KNVB uses protocols to prevent infections as much as possible. For example, players and trainers are regularly tested and someone is immediately isolated from the rest of the group if the test is positive.
FC Krasnodar player Vilhena is not a basic player in the Dutch national team. His last of fifteen international matches dates from November 2018.
Frank de Boer has not called up a replacement for Vilhena for the time being, so his selection for the exhibition match against Spain (Wednesday) and the Nations League games with Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sunday) and Poland (next Wednesday) consists of 23 players.
On Monday, Steven Bergwijn already dropped out of Orange. The Tottenham Hotspur forward is not fit. De Boer also misses keepers Jasper Cillessen and Justin Bijlow, defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Virgil van Dijk and midfielder Marten de Roon due to injuries.
