New York Jets owner Woody Johnson, who is also US Ambassador to the UK, is under investigation by the US State Department. In addition to making sexist and racist comments, he allegedly sought to profit from his office for the personal benefit of Donald Trump.
Indeed, according to information reported Wednesday by CNN, Johnson would have tried to obtain the organization of the British Open of the PGA for one of the private golf clubs of the American president, that is to say the Trump Turnberry Resort which is located in Scotland.
Johnson reportedly made racist comments about black men and questioned the existence of Black History Month. He reportedly said that black men did not stay with their families and that was a big challenge.
Inappropriate comments were also made about the appearance of women in the line of duty, at the embassy and at public events. Very resistant to the idea of participating in an event within the framework of International Women’s Day, he reportedly indicated that he preferred to have female colleagues since they “worked harder and were paid less”.
Johnson has not denied the allegations he faces. For its part, the White House declined to comment on the matter.
Johnson, who is one of the heirs to the pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson, has served as US Ambassador to the UK since November 2017.
