The European Commission has indicted Amazon for antitrust infringements – the European Union

The European Commission (EC) on Tuesday formally indicted Amazon Internet trading company Amazon for using the data to gain an unfair advantage over merchants using its platform.

EU Competition Commissioner Margrete Vestagere said the EC had informed the company and would continue the investigation while launching a second formal investigation.

The second investigation will examine whether Amazon’s Prime service and the so-called “Buy Box” that appears on the screen artificially lead buyers to sellers using Amazon’s logistics service.

“We have come to the initial conclusion that Amazon has illegally abused its dominant position as a trading platform provider in Germany and France,” Vestagere said. “Amazon may have used sensitive data to compete with small retailers. Now we’re waiting for Amazon’s response.”

Amazon not only sells its products on its Internet platforms, but also allows third-party sellers to trade.

The EC has alleged that the internet trading giant uses the customer data obtained to compete with third party customers.
