La catena di fast food McDonald’s announced that in 2021 will introduce a line of alternative plant products to the classic meat burgers and chicken nuggets for which its restaurants have become famous all over the world. The products of the line called “McPlant” will be burgers, croquettes and sandwiches for breakfast, all made without the use of meat.
McDonald’s has developed the recipe for a new vegetable burger with the collaboration of Beyond Meat, one of the leading companies that make products that look and taste like meat but are made from ingredients of vegetable origin. Although Beyond Meat has announced that the burger made in collaboration with McDonald’s will be part of the McPlant line, the chain has not clarified which company will be supplying the alternative products to meat.
When it comes to vegetable products in fast food restaurants, McDonald’s arrives a bit behind its competitors: Burger King, for example, had introduced sandwiches with burgers produced by the Impossible Foods company already in April 2019.
