Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) – A total of 213 refugees in Hessen have so far received a grant from the Hessenfonds for their studies or their scientific work. This emerges from a response from the Ministry of Science in Wiesbaden to a request from the SPD parliamentary group. The support went to 192 students, 12 doctoral students and 9 scientists.
The Hessenfonds was set up in 2015 to support highly qualified refugees in the refugee crisis. According to the ministry, the state budget provides 1.3 million euros a year for the Hessen Fund for scholarships and advice from universities.
