The metropolis of New York counted 791 shootings from May to August alone. Now the business elite is sounding the alarm in an open letter to the left-liberal mayor, Bill de Blasio.
New York. There are plenty of tragic examples of the increasing violence in the largest US city. In July, a one-year-old boy died in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood while a gang was targeting his family. In August, rival groups shot dead an innocent man in Lincoln Terrace Park while children’s classes were being held on the tennis courts next door. “It was an extreme summer,” Police Chief Dermot Shea should say, and hardly anyone in New York City will contradict him.
