What diseases are cold feet? – Rambler / doctor

Sometimes cold feet can be a sign of serious illness. Rambler will tell you more about each of them.

Atherosclerosis

With this disease, blood circulation is impaired. Most often this happens in the legs, where the vessels are most narrow, and as a result of which the limbs freeze. Risk factors for the development of atherosclerosis include smoking, hypertension, high cholesterol levels, and age.

Diabetes

Some diabetics develop neuropathy due to the disease, that is, nerve damage. And with this disease of the second type, weakening of blood circulation, including in the legs, is possible. Also diabetes, liver and kidney disease can provoke peripheral neuropathy, which can also be a sign of cold feet. This condition is accompanied by tingling and burning sensation in the limbs.

Anemia

In this condition, the body does not produce enough red blood cells. This condition usually occurs due to an iron deficiency, as indicated by a low hemoglobin level.

Raynaud’s disease

In this disease, vasoconstriction occurs during stress or cold. One of its signs is blue discoloration or paleness of the limbs.

Cold feet can also cause hypothyroidism or Buerger’s disease. In the first case, the thyroid gland produces an insufficient amount of hormones, which can lead to a weakening of blood circulation. And with Buerger’s disease, vascular inflammation and clogging with blood clots occur.
