The court sent former Slovak police president Gašpar into custody – ČT24 – Czech Television

In addition to him, a specialized court in Pezinok, which deals with the most serious forms of crime, also sent the deputy director of the police financial unit, Milan Mihálik, and the former head of the police anti-corruption unit, Róbert Krajmer.

Both Gašpar and Mihálik lodged a complaint due to their detention and the matter will be dealt with by the Slovak Supreme Court, informs the aktuality.sk portal. In the past, Gašpar was an adviser to the Czech Minister of the Interior, Jan Hamáček (ČSSD).

The prosecutor wants eight bonds

The prosecutor wants the court to order the detention of a total of eight people from the background of former police elites. They are suspected of having formed a group, led by Norbert Bödör, to secure police decisions in favor of related people and to appoint members of the group to senior positions.

Apart from Gašpar, Krajmer and Mihálik, the accused also include the former director of the National Criminal Agency, Peter Hraško, and the former director of the police financial unit, Bernard Slobodník. Under the leadership of the Social Democrats (Smer-SD), Prime Minister Robert Fico was in management positions, who, after years in power, ended up in opposition after this year’s elections.

Gašpar resigned from the post of Slovak police director after the previous year the murder of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and his partner Martina Kušnírová.
