Leicester –
Leicester City temporarily mastering the top of the standings Premier League 2020/2021 after beating Wolverhampton 1-0. Jamie Vardy score from penalty.
In the eighth week match which was held at the King Power Stadium, Sunday (8/11/2020) evening WIB, Leicester appeared in full team with Jamie Vardy and James Maddison in the attack line with Dennis Praet.
The two teams both control 50 percent of ball possession, but Leicester were more effective with 10 attempts, three on goal. Meanwhile, Wolverhampton has seven attempts with two on goal.
The deadlock broke in the 15th minute when Max Kilman touched Praet’s cross with his hand. Vardy as the executor successfully fulfilled his duty to bring Leicester to a 1-0 lead.
Leicester got another penalty in the 38th minute when James Justin was fouled by Rayan Ait Nouri. This was preceded by Ait Nouri’s mistake in controlling the ball so that Justin was able to grab it.
The referee had time to see VAR because there was an indication of offside before the violation. However, the penalty was still given even though Vardy failed to complete it because his shot was dammed by Rui Patricio.
This is the first penalty Leicester have missed out of eight chances this season. The 1-0 score lasted until the first half ended.
In the second half, Wolves tried to catch up but several attempts were unsuccessful. One golden opportunity was obtained by Ruben Neves in the 77th minute.
A powerful shot is fired into the corner of the net and the ball looks likely to go into the net, before Kasper Schmeichel deftly brushes it off. Until the end of the Leicester vs Wolverhampton match, the hosts’ victory lasted.
An additional three points puts Leicester temporarily at the top of the Premier League standings with 18 points from eight, one point ahead of second-placed Tottenham. Wolves are eighth with 13 points.
