Freiburg (AP) – The corona-related ghost games in the Bundesliga are increasingly frustrating coach Christian Streich from SC Freiburg. “In the long run it will be a lonely event,” said the 55-year-old before the game at RB Leipzig on Saturday (3:30 p.m. / Sky). “I was able to suppress that for a while, but now it’s really tough,” said Streich. “It’s too much distance that is necessary because of this virus, but it hurts, even in the stadium.”

Streich had always emphasized that he did not want to address the missing audience too much in order to concentrate with his team on the games and to offer the fans “the best possible performance” in front of the TV. Apparently that is getting harder for him. “Now it’s sometimes depressing when it’s always so empty,” said the coach from Breisgau. “I’m looking forward to it when things change again.”
