Piedmont (Italy), 7 November, LETA. Latvian motocross rider Toms Macuks on Saturday took the second place in the last sixth stage of the season in the class of the European Championship “Open” (“EMX Open”), also finishing in the second place in the overall rating.
The winner of the “EMX Open” stage Garda Trento “Grand Prix” on Saturday was crowned Frenchman Jimi Closse, who scored 47 points. Macuks was second with 42 points. Czech Martins Miheks took the third place with 34 points.
In the first race, the fastest was Closhe, for whom Macuks lost less than 14 seconds, more than four seconds ahead of the British John Edamson.
The second race was won by Norwegian Cornelius Tendel. In less than two seconds, he lost to Closhe, who became the winner of the stage. Macuks took third place, slightly behind Klošē.
“EMX Open” this season made its debut in the calendar of MXGP stages, the first stage was held on August 8-9 in Ķegums, where the first winner was Macuks.
Estonian Karel Kutsar, who took the fifth and tenth place in the races on Saturday, remained unbeaten in the overall rating of the “EMX Open” class with 230 points, ranking seventh in the stage rating with 27 points.
Macuks, who was the only one of the top three not to take part in all stages, scored 216 points, finishing second, but the third place with 192 points went to Finn Kim Savaste.
Kārlis Kalējs is in the 14th place with 75 points, while Arnolds Sņķeris is in the 27th position with 42 points among 42 riders. Both participated only in the first three stages in Ķegums.
On Sunday, both leading classes of the world championship – MXGP and MX2 – will go on the track.
Due to a back injury, Paul Jonas has spent two stages in the MXGP class this season, who will no longer be seen in this season’s competition.
There are only two stages left in the motocross season, which will take place on November 4 and 8 right on the Piedmont track in Italy.
