Great Britain bans travelers from Denmark because of mutated virus | Abroad

The mutant virus has been passed on to 12 people, according to Danish health authorities. The altered virus could threaten the effectiveness of a future vaccine and has led to the culling of 15 to 17 million minks at companies in the country.

The British already decided on Thursday that all travelers from Denmark had to go to a mandatory quarantine after arrival. Following new information from Danish health authorities, it has been decided to ban all arrivals from that country, with the exception of cargo and its carriers, plus Britons and people living permanently in Britain. They have to be quarantined for fourteen days.

The measure will be reconsidered in a week.

According to the World Health Organization, six countries have reported cases of mutated coronavirus in mink so far: Denmark itself, of course, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Italy and the US.
