James Rodríguez enjoys his new club Everton and only goes for the very highest at The Toffees. The Colombian midfielder wants to enter the Champions League with Everton next year and indicates that Carlo Ancelotti played an important role in his choice for the club.
The former Real Madrid player does not like that he will not play in the Champions League this season. “This year I watch the Champions League from home, and I don’t like that very much,” Rodríguez told me BT Sport. The midfielder believes that Everton can reach the billion dollar ball next year. “I think we have exactly what it takes to be there next year.”
Rodríguez, who came over from De Koninklijke last summer, seems to be fully alive under coach Carlo Ancelotti. It is the third time for Rodriguez that he plays his matches under the Italian. “It was important to me in the summer that I started playing under a coach who knows me and knows how I am on the field.”
According to Rodríguez, the Italian coach fitted that picture perfectly. “Carlo was exactly what I needed to come to this club.” Everton is currently ranked fifth in the Premier League. On Saturday afternoon, the Liverpool club will play a home game against Donny van de Beek’s Manchester United. The match starts at 1.30 pm.
