It has already been reported that the representatives of the election commission on the day of the extraordinary elections of the Riga City Council, August 29, did not come to several people who had applied to vote at their location.

One voter informed that on August 27 he submitted an application to the Riga City Election Commission on the portal “Latvija.lv” that he wanted to vote at the place of residence due to his health condition. Confirmation was obtained from the portal that the application had been received and handed over to the polling station commission.

However, on August 29, no one came to the voter. She has repeatedly called Central Election Commissions (CVK) information phone to inquire when one of the commission arrives. Each time a response was received that it would happen later. However, until 10 pm no one has arrived and she has not voted.

According to her, by such actions on the part of the Riga City Election Commission, she has been discriminated against due to her health condition.

Taking into account these and other violations, at the meeting of the Central Election Commission, the Chairman of the Riga City Election Commission Juris Kokins apologized to the voters for the mistakes made in the extraordinary elections of the Capital City Council.

“I apologize to anyone who could not vote,” Kokin said. He admitted that the mistakes were the fault of the Riga City Election Commission.

There were also a number of lawsuits in which it was decided to transfer the supports to polling stations where the ballot envelopes were not stamped. The transfer of votes did not significantly change the election results.
