Appears unprepared to the limit of incompetence and very clumsy the commissioner ad acta, Saverio Cotticelli, this evening in front of the cameras of Title V, the broadcast of Raitre. And not just in the eyes of the journalist who questions him and nails him to his responsibilities but also and above all to those of his deputy, sub commissioner Maria Crocco, who from the other room scolds him: «You have to finish it! When you do these things you have to be prepared, ”she tells him offscreen. And it emerges in all clarity the inadequacy of the retired general of the Carabinieri who for almost a year managed health care in Calabria, even during a health emergency.
The commissioner in fact, he does not even appear to know what his competences are and in front of the journalist who presses him declares that he is not the one who has to draw up the operational program for the management of the Covid emergency: “I’m not the one in charge – he explains – they forgot the two commissioned regions, Calabria and Molise, and gave the job to the president of the Executive”. He then added that he had drafted a question for this purpose sent to the ministry to ask whose competence it was. Retrieve the correspondence in the other room where Sub Commissioner Maria Crocco is listening and only in front of the cameras he discovers that he is competent in the matter. “It’s me,” he admits. Embarrassed, he tries to correct the shot and therefore declares to be on the point of achieving it: “It’s ready next week”. And then he adds disconsolately: «What do you want me to tell you, doctor, so much me tomorrow morning I’ll be kicked out».
The Covid plan, i.e. the operational program for the management of the emergency, it was requested by the Government with the entry into force of the Cura Italia decree law. It was in March when the Council of Ministers passed the provision that allocated huge resources for the strengthening of the national health service. The legislative text prescribed the adoption of an operational program, simultaneously authorizing the Regions to activate separate cost centers to account for the expenses deriving from the management of the emergency.
But the plenipotentiary of health in Calabria it is not even aware of the number of beds currently active in regional intensive care. He claims, at first, that he even doubled the number. “Before the health emergency there were 107. Are you saying that there are 214 places in intensive care today? », The journalist asks astonished. “We have 150 already activated but we are ready to implement, now I don’t remember exactly the number “, Cotticelli answers.
And away with verifying that also calls into question the sub commissioner, Maria Crocco: “How many intensive care beds have we activated, Marì?” asks the retired Carabinieri general. She replies: “You haven’t activated any, they are the ones you planned in the plan”.
And it is at this point that a third person also enters, claiming that the beds currently activated are 55, for a total of 161. “Who is the source of this information?” Asks the journalist in a tragicomic carousel. “No, I have another job, I’m an usher”, is keen to clarify who had initially provided information on the number of beds activated.
