Ahmed Fathy, a former Al-Ahly player who moved to Pyramids, said that he was saddened by the chanting against Hazem Imam in the last years of his career, saying that he had rejected a huge offer from Zamalek to join him at the time of their negotiations with Abdullah Al-Saeed.
In his statements to MBC Egypt, Ahmed Fathy said: “I was very sad when the crowd chanted against Hazem Imam, even though I was a little boy .. Between day and night, things might change, and people only remember the endings, and I hope that the timing of my departure is appropriate. . “
As for the history of Zamalek’s negotiations with him, he said: “Zamalek tried to contract with me in Sheffield once, and then Zamalek spoke to me once and told them that I could not do that because I adhered to the club very much and with respect to Zamalek, that step is difficult for me.”
He continued: “The idea of playing in Zamalek was a bit difficult, because if I left Al-Ahly and its large fans, the fans of the two teams would be angry with me, and this thing is unnecessary, and I have never bargained with the club with an offer of money.”
He added, “Zamalek negotiated with me and refused to move to him to hold on to my family, because if I took that step, I would lose the fans … and the offer was very large, and it could be equal to what was offered to Abdullah Al-Saeed.”
