Horror game The Medium for Xbox has been postponed to January 2021 – Gaming – News

Is it so hard to imagine that working from home is slower than at the office?

For me that is certainly difficult to imagine! But that’s because I’ve been doing this for 12+ years, working from home and I think I have almost 20 years of experience with remote support. My productivity is quite a bit higher than in the ‘chicken coop’ at many customers. In addition, my setup is better and more powerful than any other employer / customer I have ever been to (not only in hardware / software, but also in terms of ergonomic workplace).

If you can ‘just’ show something to a colleague sitting next to you, you can easily show it to a colleague by means of. chat / call and your screen parts. You can also do this with that colleague who is sitting opposite you and now does not have to walk all the way to see what you mean, that colleague who is 7 floors above you or that colleague who is in another building on the other side of the city / country / continent / world.

Many people now have issues because they cannot and / or do not want to be ‘flexible’. But what I mainly see is that people have made choices in their lives that they cannot live with if they have to be in the same house 24/7 (aka. Partners / children). Another part is not the right tools and / or the right design.

As an example, I call someone via Slack “Can I disturb you for a while?” “Yes, have a look” and with three clicks of the mouse I split my screen. And that without the background noise / distraction of 5-40 other colleagues in the background.

I won’t say that a personal meeting doesn’t have its own power, but it really isn’t necessary on a daily, weekly, or even monthly frequency. That meeting / meeting culture is precisely where so much productivity is lost!

But not everyone is equal and all ‘new’ things have to be used to. But I do find it striking that companies and people who have been practicing from home for years experience far fewer issues with this than the rest …
