There are now more than 100 infected senior citizens in institutions. Corona-positive tested personnel who have no symptoms continue to work in protective suits.

More than 100 retirement home residents are currently infected with the corona virus in the Offenbach district. The district announced in a press release that the situation is serious. Seniors have tested positive in twelve facilities, plus a lot of staff who have become infected.

The focus of the infection process is the Jona house in Obertshausen, where SARS-CoV-2 infection was detected in 58 elderly people and 28 employees. The other Covid-19 cases are distributed among facilities in Dietzenbach, Dreieich, Heusenstamm, Langen, Neu-Isenburg, Rodgau, Rödermark and Seligenstadt.

If infected nursing staff show no symptoms, they will continue to work with appropriate protective clothing, at least in part, said district press spokeswoman Ursula Luh. Therefore, no home has yet to close because of a care emergency.

In the houses with larger outbreaks, attempts are made to pool the infected in a special wing – if this is structurally possible. It may be necessary, however, to issue a comprehensive ban on visits – depending on how many infected people are after a complete screening.

The health department tests all employees and residents in the affected facilities.

The district has now extended its general decree, which it issued two and a half weeks ago, to November 30th. This means that residents of retirement homes in the Offenbach district are only allowed to receive two people for one hour a maximum of three times a week. In addition, a working group for old people’s homes was set up to assess the individual situation on site.

1263 people are currently infected in the Offenbach district – more than ever before. In the district’s hospitals, 60 infected people are cared for, 13 of them in intensive care. The 7-day incidence is 218.9.
