Without wanting to anticipate whether or not there will be restrictions on travel between municipalities, António Costa warns that the Portuguese must be prepared for a different Christmas.
The Government will evaluate how to apply the State of Emergency, but António Costa does not exclude having to apply the curfew. With continued renewal, even when the State of Emergency will last “at the limit, until the end of the pandemic”, admits the Prime Minister.
Regarding the National Health Service, the Prime Minister guarantees that there is no objection to contracting with private individuals. It is not a question of money, he says, when comparing SNS investment to European bazooka.
António Costa praises the role of the Minister of Health. “Never before has a health minister faced what the current minister is facing”, with the Prime Minister expressing “reinforced political confidence” in Marta Temido.
On the investigations that the Minister of Economy and the Secretary of State for energy are being targeted in the context of green hydrogen, António Costa expresses himself “rested”, because he trusts the rule of law. He stresses that there are no suspects but adds that in Portugal nobody is above the law.
The last thing a politician can do at this moment is to predict his future, but António Costa guarantees that he wants to be present to face the pandemic and to recover the country again in the reconstruction that will follow.
