More new infections for the first time in days; hospital occupancy is decreasing

7272 new confirmed corona infections were reported to the RIVM until 10:00 this morning. That is 288 more than yesterday. It is the first time in a week that the number of new infections is increasing instead of decreasing.

180 admissions to nursing wards, 33 more in IC

The occupation of the hospitals decreased further. A total of 2,445 people with corona are now in hospital (yesterday: 2512), of whom 603 in the ICU (yesterday: 607). So more patients have been discharged from hospital than admitted.

180 new corona patients were admitted to the hospital’s nursing wards, reports the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution. That is 81 new admissions less than yesterday.

33 new patients were admitted to intensive care, almost all of them transferred from the nursing wards. That was 2 new recordings less than yesterday.

118 covid patients died

118 deceased covid patients have been reported to the RIVM. Yesterday, 87 deaths were reported. In the past seven days, RIVM registered an average of 78 deaths per day, against 54 deaths per day a week earlier.

The actual number of deaths is probably higher; not all sick people can be counted. According to the CBS the so-called ‘excess mortality’ last week consisted of 700 people, while 285 were reported to the RIVM.

Most reported infections were found in Rotterdam, namely 533. Many positive tests were also counted in Amsterdam and The Hague, 308 and 218 respectively.
