Number of patients in hospitals declined for the first …

For the first time since the beginning of September, the number of COVID patients in our hospitals has fallen slightly. Inter-federal spokesman Steven Van Gucht said this on Friday. There are now 7,282 COVID patients in the hospital.

The number of hospital admissions continues to increase, but a tipping point may also be in sight here, says Van Gucht. Over the past seven days, there were an average of 663 new admissions per day, a limited increase of 7 percent on a weekly basis. “After the peak of 879 new hospital admissions on Tuesday, November 3, the figures for the day before yesterday and yesterday were significantly lower, with 653 and 556 new admissions per day respectively,” says Van Gucht.

In the Brussels-Capital Region, admissions fall by 12 percent, in Wallonia and Flanders there are still increases of 3 percent and 21 percent. According to Van Gucht, this may be due to the national distribution plan, because many patients have been transferred from Brussels and Wallonia to Flanders.

There are now 7,282 patients with COVID in the hospital, slightly less than yesterday and the day before yesterday and the first drop in the number of patients in hospitals since the beginning of September. The number of patients in intensive care still rises to 1,428 (+35 percent on a weekly basis).
