The strong recommendation of the Ministry of Health arrives to immediately suspend all elections for the renewal of the Orders of Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Veterinarians, Chemists-Physicians, Pharmacists and Health Professions. Only possible if electronic voting procedures can be activated.
The Ministry of Health wrote last night to the National Federations of Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Veterinarians, Pharmacists, Chemists-Physicians and Professions Healthcare by effectively prohibiting face-to-face voting in the ordinistic bodies where elections are being held for the renewal of managerial offices, register commissions and auditors.
He did so with a letter signed by Rossana Ugenti, Director General of the Ministry of Health, addressed to the federations FNOMCeO, Fnopi, Fnopo, Fno TSRM PSTRP, Fnovi, Fncf and Fnofi.
“In consideration of the worsening of the epidemiological situation from COVID-19 and of the measures adopted and in the process of being adopted that provide for limitations to movements in some areas of the national territory, it is recommended that electoral proceedings be suspended for the renewal of the governing bodies of the professional associations , unless the same Orders can guarantee the conduct of the aforementioned elections electronically, pursuant to article 1, paragraph 4, of the decree of the Minister of Health of March 15, 2018 “- reads the note of Ugenti.
The strong recommendation.
In practice, the “strong recommendation”, which all Federations and provincial or inter-provincial Orders will have to comply with is to avoid face-to-face elections and to activate the procedures for telematic ones. And this to allow all those entitled to vote (especially in the orange and red areas, but also in the yellow ones that could change color and suffer more restrictions) and to freely express their preference, but also to avoid gatherings, improper movements and Coronavirus infections.
Now the “ball” goes to the Federations.
Now the final decision passes to the ordinistic Federations, which cannot pretend this recommendation and which will have to decide in a very short time on what to do.
A postponement of the electoral work and a ministerial decree that provides for the extension of the current leadership or the commissioner of the same is expected.
Ugenti, as we know informally, had already warned Federations and Orders in the past to call elections in periods of the year when the presence of Coronavirus was reduced and with it intra and extra-territorial movements.
We will be able to tell you more in the next few hours.
