Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Sony will start selling the PlayStation 5 or PS5 next week. This console manufacturer also provides the latest information about this console.
Sony has announced that the PS5 will go on sale on November 12, 2020 in the United States (US), Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. Meanwhile, other countries can start ordering PS 5 starting November 19, 2020.
The regular PS5 will sell for US $ 499.99 per unit or equivalent to Rp 7.4 million (assuming Rp.14,800 / US $) and the PS 5 Digital edition at US $ 399.99 or the equivalent of Rp.6 million. Prices in Indonesia can be higher because buyers have to pay taxes.
Sony revealed its customers buying the PS5 console on November 12 either online or from Sony retail partners. However, most of the PS5 units were sold out before the launch day.
It was not clear how many PS5 units were prepared and when they would be shipped. It’s also unclear when the PS5 will be available for sale in offline retail stores.
“There is no unit [PS5] which will be available in stores for purchase on launch day (12 November and 19 November, depending on your region), “said Sony as quoted from CNBC International, Friday (6/11/2020).
“We hope you don’t stay overnight or queue at local retailers on launch day hoping to buy a PS5. Just order online.”
Sony added that consumers who have ordered PS5 consoles to pick up goods at retail stores as long as they make prior appointments and follow store health protocols.
