The announcement was made directly by Sony Playstation via its official Twitter account which has been verified @Playstation.
“Update: All PS5 console sales on launch day, November 12 or November 19 depending on your region, will only be online. No units will be available in stores for purchase,” wrote @Playstation.

In addition, Sid Shuman from Sony Interactive Entertainment has advised against planning to queue early at the store for the launch of the PS5 console.
“Please don’t plan to camp or queue at your local retailer on launch day hoping to find a PS5 console to buy, be safe, stay home, and order online,” wrote Sid Shuman in his blog post.
If you have successfully confirmed your pre-order and plan to pick up your PS5 from the shop, the change will not affect your pick up time.
