These are states that still accept votes that come in after election day, including Nevada and North Carolina. Both President Trump and Democrat Joe Biden still have a chance of winning there.
The judge had previously ruled that all remaining postal votes must be delivered to the vote counters. Lawyers said the postal service delivered about 150,000 ballots on Wednesday, roughly 8,000 or 9,000 of which had already been sent on Sunday. The USPS, led by a Trump campaign donor, is accused of being deliberately inefficient.
Many states count postal votes arriving up to a week after election day, as long as they are postmarked on election day. “I want to focus on everything that is in those mail sorting centers, and sending those ballots out so they can be counted,” Judge Emmet Sullivan said on Wednesday.
