During the coronavirus pandemic, the immune system especially needs vitamin D, Russian scientists say. If it is not enough, then the disease is transferred much more difficult.
As noted by a member of RAS Evgeny Shlyakhto “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”, the lack of this vitamin was recorded in almost 72% of patients with confirmed coronavirus. According to the scientist, “Vitamin D deficiency is an important predictor of unfavorable development of the disease – both moderate and severe.”
Vitamin D is a group of biologically active substances that the body receives in two ways: synthesizes under the influence of ultraviolet radiation and takes from food.
Its main food sources are dairy products (non-fat), fish oil, fish liver, caviar, egg yolk. The record-breaking product for the content of this vitamin is cod liver.
