Due to the death of his father, Paul had actually canceled all his appointments, but something told him to talk to the broadcaster anyway. “My father was a businessman, canned fruit, and always said: you have to act when your strawberries are the best. I thought: now I have to sell myself at BNNVARA”, he explains his action.

Paul, who left the broadcaster for RTL in 2018, forms a new duo with Astrid Joosten on Friday evening. The current Friday evening duo, Sophie Hilbrand and Hugo Logtenberg, will move to Monday. “They really want Friday to be a bit lighter and I can see ourselves doing that,” he says. “We just did a test broadcast and that went really well. Very happy and everyone is relieved and satisfied.”
According to Paul, the ‘Friday feeling’ lies in the approach to subjects. “That you look for lightness in subjects. Friday we have Rob de Nijs and he comes with two other artists: Paskal Jakobsen and Danny Vera. We also call it jokingly Up1, so that you go into the weekend with a bit of a positive feeling. “

Now that Sophie and Hugo are moving to Monday, it means that duo Willemijn Veenhoven and Erik Dijkstra are leaving. Willemijn will be the new presenter of the NPO Radio 2 program Nails with Heads and will remain Early birds present. Erik will start early next year with a new, weekly program on NPO Radio 1 and will continue among others Per Second Pointer present.
Tim Hofman was almost the regular presenter of the program. You can hear all about that in the video below.
