Taxi drivers and town hall launch the campaign ‘Taxi Mijas, safe transport’

The Councilor for Mobility and Transport of the City Council of Mijas (Malaga), Nicolás Cruz, together with representatives of the professional taxi sector in Mijas, have announced the new campaign of taxi transport in the town as a safe and effective means of the mobility of users of the Costa del Sol.

“With this information campaign what we seek is to bring the work and work carried out by this group of professionals to both residents and potential tourists so that they can see first-hand the facilities offered by this means of transport in our city.”

In addition, Cruz has indicated the security measures carried out in the sector:

“The taxi has known how to adapt to the new reality with the incorporation of all kinds of preventive and security measures against COVID-19, such as the installation of screens or disinfection, among many others, so that it comes to facilitate the user transport in a medium with all the guarantees ”.

In this sense, the department appreciates the effort made by the professionals of the union.

“From minute one the pandemic began, the maintenance of the service has been ensured.”

In addition, from the department they report that as of September 21, a new system of service shifts will be carried out, consisting of all 114 vehicles that are part of this fleet.

“A third will be on duty every day, so that about 35 vehicles will be operational in the city ensuring at all times and also at night the provision of this service to any user who requires it, while making more feasible a service that is expected to have a lower volume of users in these coming months, which are expected to be hard as a result of the pandemic ”.

For his part, Rafael Bonilla, president of the Mijas Radio Taxi Association, said:

“This campaign shows how safe the taxi is and all the measures that we have incorporated we want customers to feel safe.”

“We disinfect vehicles especially in the areas of greatest use, in addition to using ozone, we also have payment through POS, screens or the use of masks.”

From the consistory they point out that they will continue to promote new initiatives to reactivate the local economy and value “the wide range of services provided in the town”, they point out from the government team.
