Should ‘Dungeons & Dragons’ be the next big fantasy series?

Dungeons & Dragons will have a live-action series, but we don’t know yet who or when it will be shown.

Hasbro is working on a live action Dungeons & Dragons-series. CEO Brian Goldner said this during a conversation about the toy manufacturer’s quarterly figures. Work on the series is not yet advanced.

It is of course not the first time that a series is made around the popular role-playing game. CBS showed an animated series around the franchise for several seasons between 1983 and 1985. It was discontinued after three seasons. And then there is the D&Dmovie, which aired in 2000, including two sequels.

So now we are working on a television series. “The team is working on a number of different approaches because there is so much mythology in the canon to film,” Goldner said. “And there is a lot of interest in it. We talked about the large amount of streamers and television channels that are really interested in this.”

Incidentally, a live-action film is also being worked on Dungeons & Dragons. It is in pre-production and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley.
