Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, reviewed the current situation of the emerging “Corona” virus until yesterday.
The minister indicated that when comparing the global increase in the number of infections and deaths since the start of the pandemic with the current increase, it becomes clear that the current increase is about 150% more than the infections at the beginning of the pandemic, in contrast to the deaths, which have become less due to the ability of health systems to deal with the virus.
The Minister touched on the timetable for launching the comprehensive health insurance system in a number of governorates, noting that the official opening of the system in the Luxor Governorate will take place next December, through 7 hospitals, 59 units and a health center, and that the system is scheduled to be officially opened in February 2021 in Ismailia Governorate. As it will be launched experimentally in mid-November, in 12 hospitals and 39 health units and centers, and in Aswan, the comprehensive health insurance system will be launched experimentally in December, provided that it will be officially opened in February of next year through 11 hospitals and 112 units and health centers.
Dr. Hala Zayed added that March 2021 will witness the launch of comprehensive health insurance in the governorates of Suez and South Sinai, after the trial operation of the system in the two governorates in mid-December, through 8 hospitals and 22 units and health centers in South Sinai, 5 hospitals and 27 units and a health center in Suez.
