The wedding planner called later that evening to consult and Mariska spoke about her fiancé’s earlier comment. “She was immediately very enthusiastic and thought it was a brilliant idea.” And the rest is history, so to speak. “She made us just as excited and would arrange everything with McDonalds.” And no sooner said than done.

Portion of chicken nuggets from your own pocket
After the ceremony at the church, the couple drove to McDonalds, with their 28 guests following. “We waited in the parking lot for everyone to arrive, and then drove through the McDrive one by one. We were at the front of the queue with our rented Volkswagen van. I ordered a menu with chicken nuggets and Daan had a Big Mac ”, Mariska laughs.
As enthusiastic as the McDonalds in Oud Gastel was about the wedding, there was no free portion of chicken nuggets. “We just had to pay out of pocket for us and our guests. A pity, with all that publicity now. But we did have a good meal and had a wonderful day, so oh well. ”
First dance in the parking lot
And what better way to end the wedding than with a first dance? “That’s part of the deal,” says Mariska. “And when you have dinner at the McDrive, you do the first dance in the parking lot! It was certainly special. And in the end we would not have wanted it any other way. After corona we want to throw a big party. And how beautiful is that, then I can just wear that wedding dress a second time. ”
