The Senne community would get two new deputy mayors. So far, Monika Rodehuth and Michael Kersting (both CDU) held these offices. Rodehuth has left the council, Michael Kersting will be replaced by Angelika Michelis after 16 years. He had recently been in the focus because he had accused the critics of the “edgy Hermanns” of not having “Hövelhofer Blut”. However, shortly after this statement, which he had made on Facebook, the innkeeper publicly apologized to the council. The CDU has now announced that Kersting is foregoing another term as deputy mayor. “We thank you for his commitment as the first deputy mayor. His commitment was always characterized by a great love of his homeland, ”said Tobias Steinrücke, Chairman of the Hövelhofer CDU.
Election on Thursday in the Council
Angelika Michelis, who runs a specialty shop for party and club supplies on Zieglerstraße in the Senne community, should follow in his footsteps. She was elected to the local council for the first time in the local elections on September 13, as was Angelika Wichmann-Glaser from the SPD, who is to become the second deputy mayor.
Further personal decisions have also been made in preliminary intergroup talks. The structure of the committees should therefore be retained, in addition to the council there is still the building and environment committee (BUA), the main and finance committee (HFA), the committee for education and youth (ABJ), the committee for family, sport and Culture (AFSK), the Audit Committee (RPA) and the Election Review Committee (EPA).
Joint nomination for committee chairmen
As always, the main and finance committee is chaired by the mayor. The chair of the building and environmental committee is to be Dr. Christian Berg will take over from Burkhard Hemesath (both CDU), who is no longer represented in the council. Jörn Achtelik (Greens) will chair the Committee on Education and Youth from Wilfried Lappe (CDU), who has also left the council. The new chairman of the committee for family, sport and culture will be Andreas Poll (CDU) instead of Mario Schäfer (SPD), who is also no longer on the council. The Audit Committee continues to be headed by André Klocksin (FDP), the Election Audit Committee by Heinz Thieschnieder (CDU). On behalf of the CDU, Udo Neisens saw it as “an important signal to the Hövelhof population that the local parties can work out joint agreements”. In the past few years, there had often been disagreements between the CDU and the opposition, and even that culminated in personal statements with the desire for better cooperation in the council.
Two new group leaders
There will also be two new faces among the group leaders. While Udo Neisens (CDU) and André Klocksin (FDP) were confirmed in their offices, the SPD parliamentary group will in future be led by Simon Farr (instead of Mario Schäfer). The leadership of the parliamentary group of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen passes from Jörn Achtelik to Uwe Borchardt.
The CDU also announced that David Merschjohann and Tobias Steinrücke were elected deputy parliamentary group chairmen. Tim Kesselmeier is the new press officer. The Senne-CDU introduced the office of digital advisor for the first time in the Paderborn district. Christin Buschmeier holds the post.
