Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – It’s not just the “hot” presidential election of the United States but also the US White House. Because hundreds of people rallied, only one block near the US presidential palace.
They gathered for a ‘farewell party’ with US President Donald Trump. Where a number of protesters carried banners containing expelling words such as ‘Remove Trump’ and ‘Depak Trump’.
They also play some music while listening to the latest US election news updates. Quoted from the Washington Post, there were only a few pro Trump masses around the White House.
“We want him (Trump) to leave,” said Millie Landis, 19, a student at American University, as written by the Washington Post, Tuesday (4/11/2020) local time.
Until evening, the masses were still being observed at the demonstration site and had not yet disperse themselves. A number of police also watched the crowd who were also part of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Meanwhile, National Park Service has erected a high fence around the White House. This is done in order to anticipate potential violence.
DC officials also opened an Emergency Operations Center and added police and fire staff to deal with any issues. Two federal agencies said they had personnel on standby if needed.
Even so, no National Guard members in the city were activated or on standby. They can disembark at the request of the local mayor or at the direction of the president.
Until now, the vote count is still being carried out. But from AP data, Joe Biden who is paired with Kamala Harris is superior at Electoral College compared to Trump and his partner Mike Pence.
From the data at 12:38 WIB, Biden got 223 votes. Meanwhile Trump 174. However, to win the election, one of the two candidates must be able to get 270 electoral votes.
