Einbeck. Advent lights in downtown Einbeck: Einbeck Marketing GmbH would like to realize the traditional Christmas lighting together with the city of Einbeck this year too. As every year, this is only possible with the financial support of Einbeck’s citizens and companies.
»The year 2020 was and is a year of challenges for all of us. Covid-19 determines our everyday family and professional life. It is all the more important for us all to have a peaceful end to the year, ”explains Anja Barlen-Herbig, Managing Director of Einbeck Marketing. »We will not be able to realize the Christmas village in the traditional way this year due to the current Covid development, we are currently working on an alternative concept for a Christmas city. But we definitely want to hang up the traditional Christmas lights so that everyone in Einbeck and also the guests of the city can buy their Christmas gifts for family and friends in the festively decorated city center of Einbeck. We depend on financial support. “
In 2019/2020, investments were made in the repair of the traditional archways, which are to illuminate the entrances to the city center again this year. These are currently being converted to LEDs in cooperation with the Harz-Weser works. Stadtwerke Einbeck will cover the costs; Regardless of this, the total cost of the lighting is around 16,000 euros in order to be able to illuminate the entire city center of Einbeck at Christmas time. The financial resources are required for the existing elements, among other things, for checking the light source, repairing defective parts, assembly, energy consumption, insurance, dismantling and storage. More than 600 potential supporters have already been written to, and the first sponsors are already participating. “Christmas lights are a much discussed topic in many cities. Due to financial bottlenecks, individual cities have also stayed dark. But I am sure that we will find enough supporters in Einbeck who will work with us to create a Christmas sea of lights in a half-timbered ensemble, ”says Barlen-Herbig.
The traditional candle arches should shine again this year. Residents of the market square and Marktstrasse can put them back in their windows. Einbeck Marketing provides the sheets free of charge. Last year, 145 glowing candle arches accompanied the residents and guests of the city through the Advent season.
