Argentine soccer legend Diego Armando Maradona was transferred to a hospital in Argentina after his health deteriorated.
Argentine media reported that Maradona will stay in hospital for several days to undergo tests due to feeling unwell for some time, and he will remain under observation. The reports did not mention a suspicion that Maradona was infected with the Corona virus.
Maradona, the current coach of the Argentinian Jimnasia La Plata team, was subjected to a quarantine more than two weeks ago after discovering Corona virus infections within the team, but his examination results were negative, and he celebrated his birthday a few days ago, and he was fine.
Maradona’s private physician, Leopoldo Loki, said he was being held in hospital for testing.
Loki told reporters that Maradona had been feeling unwell for some time and would be under observation for at least 3 days.
Loki added that Maradona is not feeling well psychologically, and this is affecting his health, and that he needs help.
Loki did not disclose the details of Maradona’s illness but said it was not related to Covid-19.
Maradona, “60 years,” was hospitalized for periods of time over the years, mostly because of his tumultuous lifestyle throughout his career as a player and after retirement.
The former Napoli player was also hospitalized in January 2019 due to his stomach bleeding.
He suffered malaise at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and was filmed by cameras losing consciousness in the VIP area in the stands during Argentina’s match against Nigeria.
Maradona was hospitalized in 2004 due to heart and respiratory problems related to cocaine abuse. He later underwent drug addiction rehabilitation in Cuba and Argentina, before stomach stapling surgery in 2005 helped him lose weight.
In 2007, Maradona was admitted to a hospital in Buenos Aires to help him get rid of alcoholism.
