Several YouTube channels broadcast similar videos from Tuesday morning. It showed maps with fake results. The live streams topped the search results for the search term ‘election results’ and have been viewed by thousands of viewers.
“After a careful evaluation, we will remove the live streams that violate our guidelines,” said a YouTube spokeswoman in an email. “We have policies that prohibit spam, deceptive practices and scams and we remain vigilant about election-related content in the run-up to and after the election.”

The live videos with the fake results came from YouTube accounts that revolve around music and stock trading tips. The owners of the accounts were probably trying to take advantage of the YouTube algorithms, which give long live videos about current events an advantage.
At one point during election day, the first four search results on YouTube for the search term “presidential election results” were videos with fake results. After YouTube said it was taking action, multiple similar videos continued to appear on the first page of search results.
