Latvian motocross rider Toms Macuks on Tuesday won the fifth stage of the season in the class of the European Championship “Open” (“EMX Open”).

On Tuesday, the Latvian motocross rider was crowned the winner of the “Grand Prix” of the “EMX Open” stage in Piedmont. Macuks took second place in both races, accumulating 44 points. Finnish Kims Savaste took second place with 41 points, while Estonian Karel Kutsars was third with 40 points.

The fastest in the first race was Savaste, for whom Macuks lost less than three seconds, overtaking Kutsara by almost two and a half seconds.

Macuks also took the second place in the second race, winning the Frenchman Jimi Klošé, who took only the 13th place in the first race. The Latvian motocross runner was less than 11 seconds behind, lagging behind the leader only in the last laps, when more thought was given to the second place and victory in the overall standings. Kutsars finished third in the race less than three seconds behind Macuka, and Savaste finished fifth.

Karel Kutsar from Estonia came in third and was in fourth place again. The Latvian athlete lost a little more than 37 seconds to the leader.

The “EMX Open” was not previously included in the MXGP stage calendar and made its debut in the first stage in Ķegums, which was held on August 8-9, where Macuks became the first winner.

One stage before the end of the championship, led by “EMX Open” class with 203 points, is Kutsars, Savaste has scored 11 points less, but Macuks is in third place with 174 points. Macuks is the only one of the top three who has not participated in all five stages.

Kārlis Kalējs is in the 11th place with 75 points, while Arnolds Sņķeris is in the 24th position among 39 riders with 39 points.

Both leading classes of the world championship – MXGP and MX2 – will go on the track on Wednesday.

Due to a back injury, Paul Jonas has spent two stages in the MXGP class this season, who will probably not be seen in the competition this season.

There are only two stages left in the motocross season, which will take place on November 4 and 8 right on the Piedmont track in Italy.
