Rivian is finalizing the development of its R1T electric pickup, whose production will start in June 2021 and of R1S electric SUV. For these models, the American manufacturer has decided to use specially developed tires from the Pirelli Scorpion range. A work in synergy between the two companies that is not new in the electric market where tire manufacturers work closely with car manufacturers to create products that best match the characteristics of battery-powered models.
In this specific case, Pirelli, to satisfy Rivian’s requests, has created tailor made tires Scorpion Verde All Season, Scorpion Zero All Season e Scorpion All Terrain. It should be emphasized that all these products have a special marking on the shoulder: RIV and Elect. The RIV marking is a reference to the models of the American manufacturer while Elect identifies tires that have been made for hybrid and electric models.

They offer, for example, low rolling resistance to improve consumption e a significant reduction in noise. Finally, they guarantee better grip to meet the needs of electric cars that have engines with a lot of torque available right away. The two companies have been working together for nearly two years to develop these products. The tires will be available in 20, 21 and 22 inch versions.
In particular, the 21-inch Scorpion Verde All Season features a very particular and unique size in the world, introduced by Pirelli specifically for Rivian: 275/55 R21.
