All photos and videos sent in chats and group conversations are normally kept. This leads to large storage consumption. Until now, it was only possible to delete all photos or videos in a chat at once.
The latest update of WhatsApp makes it easier and clearer to delete photos and videos. For example, WhatsApp sorts media files that have been forwarded many times and images and videos larger than 5 MB.
In those folders, users can sort the media files by date or format, and delete them individually or all at once. The attachments can also be viewed per chat, and can also be deleted individually or all at once.
Where can you find this?
The update will be rolled out worldwide by WhatsApp this week. From that moment on, the new function can be found in the Settings. There, click on Data and Storage Usage and then on ‘Manage Storage’.

WhatsApp is also launching one soon new function which automatically deletes messages, photos and videos after 7 days. If the feature is enabled, unread messages will also be deleted after that time period. It is not yet known exactly when that function, which is already being tested and already in the FAQ on the WhatsApp website, will be implemented.
WhatsApp has more than 2 billion users worldwide. Become through the app 100 billion messages sent per day.
