Czech Railways has replaced SIM cards in all trains, promising more stable internet

The number of cars and units with Wi-Fi connection has already exceeded a thousand.

These days, Czech Railways has completed a comprehensive exchange of SIM data cards in its trains. As a result, passengers should have a faster and more stable internet connection.

The carrier announced this in a press release today. The exchange lasted four months, following on from the successful contract of mobile operators for the provision of data services. In him won by O2 and T-Mobile. New SIM cards have also appeared in foreign sets traveling to the Czech Republic.

“The new SIM cards use the full potential of mobile networks in the Czech Republic, as they enable data download at the maximum speed provided by mobile data networks in a given place and time. As a result, the speed increased and at the same time the stability of the connection was strengthened, “ says Jiří Ješeta, Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy CEO of ČD for Business.

Czech Railways now offers Wi-Fi connection in 1,046 cars, which serve more than a thousand long-distance and regional connections daily. In long-distance transport, these are SC Pendolino, railjet, EC / IC trains, but also some express lines, such as Svitava (Prague – Česká Třebová – Brno), Slovácký and Zlínský expres (Prague – Luhačovice / Zlín střed), Krušnohor ( Prague – Ústí nad Labem – Cheb) or Moravan (Brno – Břeclav – Olomouc).

In regional transport, Wi-Fi is available mainly on lines provided by modern RegioPanter sets (eg in Eastern Bohemia, in the Pilsen and South Bohemian regions, in the Ostrava and Brno regions), RegioShark (eg on the Pilsen – Domažlice line and on a number of regional lines in the Karlovy Vary, Ústí nad Labem, Liberec and Zlín regions) and RegioSpider (in the Vysočina region and in the Liberec region).

In some regions, the possibility of connecting to the Internet via Wi-Fi will be added to other modernized sets, such as motor vehicles line 811 in the Moravian-Silesian Region. Other modern trains that are already in production or are currently in demand will also be equipped with Wi-Fi connection.
