Filmmaker Jacques Tati
From his real name Jacques Tatischeff is a French director, actor and screenwriter born in Le Pecq on October 9, 1907. It is after the success of his film My uncle, released in 1958, and for which he received a Oscar for best foreign film, which it moved to 9, rue Voltaire in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines) in 1959. He remained there until 1969, when he sold his mortgaged house for one of his other films, Playtime (1967). Tati then moved to Paris with his wife. He died on November 4, 1982 of a pulmonary embolism. Jacques Tati is also known for other feature films: Celebration day (1949), his first feature film, and Mr. Hulot’s Holidays(1953).
