“it’s a back to school loaded with emotions” for the rector Nathalie Albert-Moretti

“It’s a lot of emotions for everyone” says the rector of the Dijon academy Nathalie Albert-Moretti, delighted that schools in Côte-d’Or are open despite the confinement. On this back-to-school day, she takes stock of the various aspects for which teachers, students and parents must prepare.

This first morning of recovery will be marked by the tribute paid to Samuel Paty, the history-geo teacher of Conflans-Sainte-Honorine (Yvelines) beheaded on the evening of the All Saints holidays. A minute of silence will be observed in all classes at 11 a.m., preceded by the reading of Jaurès’ letter to teachers. Teachers can also organize discussion time in their class, using documents made available to them by the Ministry of National Education, such as a video shot by the French football team.

“We must continue to show cartoons in class, and not just those from Charlie Hebdo explains Nathalie Albert-Moretti. Caricature is something that is deeply rooted in our history, that is part of freedom of the press. It is absolutely necessary to continue to rely on cartoons to explain to students what freedom of expression is. I don’t have to comment on Charlie Hebdo’s editorial line, what I can tell you is that I will always campaign for the right of Charlie Hebdo to exist and to express itself. ”

Reinforced vigipirate plan

The rector of the Dijon academy confirms that his services have worked in recent days with the prefecture and the police to strengthen security around schools, as part of the Vigipirate plan. “A number of police will be present in front of schools, colleges and high schools.”

Wearing a mask compulsory from CP

“We are simply emphasizing the health protocol which is already in place”, explains Nathalie Albert-Moretti about the new health instructions to deal with the coronavirus epidemic. Aware of the difficulties in making 6-year-old children wear a mask, the rector believes that it is “learning that will take place gradually for the students” and recalls that this was a request from the teachers’ unions for a long time.

In addition to wearing a mask, the arrivals and departures of students in schools as well as the hours of recreation and canteen will be even more staggered to avoid too much mixing of students.
