Rostock (dpa / mv) – With the official start of lectures, the University of Rostock is starting the 2020/21 winter semester today. A total of 12,600 students are enrolled, about 300 fewer than at the same time last year. The number of new students in the first semester is a good 2,930, even 500 lower than in the 2019/20 winter semester.

A large part of the lectures are held online. “We offered good lessons in the last semester despite adverse conditions caused by Corona,” emphasized the Dean of Rostock University Medicine, Emil Reisinger.

According to the university, there is still great interest in teacher training. This applies in particular to primary and special education as well as the subjects of high school teaching such as biology, English and sport. There are still vacancies in the teaching post at regional schools. Most of the enrollments are in human medicine, dentistry, and economics and social sciences.

At the University of Greifswald, lectures in most subjects began on October 12th.
