14h21 – RTP report on intensive care at São João Hospital
Scheduled care for non-Covid patients is being called into question due to the record number of hospitalizations related to the new coronavirus. Hospitals are creating new units and wards, but places are scarce for so much demand.
São João has already opened the third ICU totally Covid with the adaptation of general surgery. RTP accompanied a shift in this unit, where professionals are concerned with the speed and size of this second wave.

14h05 – Portugal with 3062 new cases and 37 deaths in the last 24 hours
The country recorded an additional 3062 cases of Covid-19 infection in the past 24 hours, bringing the national total to 144341 since the pandemic began. A further 1491 people recovered from the disease are accounted for a total of 81771.
There were also 37 more deaths in Portugal on the last day. The total thus passes to 2544.

Of the total number of new infections, 1616 were registered in the North of the country, 430 in the Center, 876 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 74 in Alentejo, 59 in the Algarve, one in the Azores and six in Madeira.
There are 150 more people in hospital than yesterday, in a national total of 2122. In Intensive Care Units, today there are two fewer people than the day before (total of 284).

13h25 – Marketers accuse the Government of “taking their bread”
The president of the National Federation of Associations of Fairkeepers today accused the Government of “taking bread from the fairgrounders” by prohibiting, as of Wednesday, fairs in 121 municipalities as part of measures to stop the pandemic.
Speaking to Agência Lusa, the president of the National Federation of Associations of Fairkeepers, Joaquim Santos, accused the Government of “leaving behind thousands of fairkeepers” and promised “a big surprise in Lisbon next week”, specifying that “they will ask to work “.

12h08 – Italian Minister of Health says that the latest data on the new coronavirus in the country are “scary” and that the country has at most two days to approve new restrictions.

11h39 – AstraZeneca Plc confirmed on Sunday that British health regulators have started an accelerated process of reviewing the vaccine for the new coronavirus that it is developing with the University of Oxford.

11h19 – 97 year old woman is the first recorded death in Madeira
Madeira today recorded the first death caused by covid-19, being a 97-year-old woman who was hospitalized at Funchal Hospital, informed the Regional Health Secretariat of the archipelago.
“It is with regret and sadness that we report the death of a patient with covid-19 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira”, says the Government of Madeira in the information released, addressing “heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family”.
In the same document, the Regional Secretariat says that it is a 97-year-old woman “with several associated comorbidities, who was hospitalized in the multipurpose unit dedicated to covid-19 at Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital”.
The woman was hospitalized “since October 27, the day on which the diagnosis of this disease was confirmed”, she adds, mentioning that “the death was verified during this dawn”.
