Saudi newspapers praised the performance of Ahmed Hegazy, the Egyptian defender and the English West Burmich player on loan to the Saudi Jeddah Federation.
Hejazi moved to the Jeddah Federation during the last summer transfer period, on a season-long loan with an option to buy.
The Egyptian defender participated for the first time with his Saudi team in the Jeddah derby match against Al-Ahly, and Hegazy contributed to his team’s victory with two goals without a response in the third round of the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Professional Cup League.
Okaz newspaper described Hegazy’s performance as stardom, and said: “Egyptian international defender Ahmed Hegazy contributed to the victory of his team, Al-Ittihad, by creating a defensive balance in the derby match and reducing the danger of the top scorer in Al-Ahly team Omar Al-Somah.”
She added: “Hijazi appeared at a technical level balanced with his usual calm, contributing to the arrangement of the back line of the Federal Team by reducing the mistakes that were often used by the Al-Ahly team in previous matches.”
She also dealt with a statistic of the 29-year-old, during which she confirmed that the Egyptian defender played 26 correct passes by 73% and a high percentage of air balls that he captured throughout the match, in addition to his success in 4 ground confrontations out of 7.
As for Al-Riyadiah, it set a calendar for the date of the contract with Hegazy, the time of arrival, and the time of participation in the first official match.
She said that the player was contracted by the Jeddah Federation on the twenty-fifth of last October, then he arrived in Jeddah on the twenty-ninth of the same month, to participate in the first official match on the twenty-first of October.
The newspaper said that Hijazi participated in the match despite not participating in the group training that preceded the match.
She added that Hegazy was content with some solo training hours after his arrival at the Jeddah Federation, and after reassurance of his technical and physical readiness, he was pushed into the team camp at a late hour.
As for the Saudi newspaper, Al-Bilad, it said: “Hejazi … restores the prestige of the federal defense.”
The newspaper praised the services of the 29-year-old, adding that the Egyptian professional Ahmed Hegazy played a great game in the derby and succeeded in ending the danger of the Al-Ahly team offensively through his moves, the strength of his confrontations and his good reading.
The pioneers of social networking also sang Hijazi’s performance, describing him as “the undisputed star of the match.”
Some commentators on sports programs have commented on Hijazi’s performance, such as Faris Awad, Saeed Al Kaabi and Amer Abdullah Al Marri.
In Al-Ittihad, it is a great joy to win in Derby in Jeddah, and a greater joy in the appearance of a wonderful first for the Egyptian defender Hegazy, the big clubs, even if they are long absent, but they do not lose hope and do not give up, they try no matter how many frustrations, this is their destiny, because the adults only fit them to the summit and its surroundings.
