Prague On Saturday, the increase in the number of covid-19 cases in the Czech Republic was lower compared to last week. There were 11,428 more infected people, ie about a thousand less than the previous Saturday. This follows from data on the website of the Ministry of Health. Already on Friday, the growth slowed down, when 13,606 newly infected people were recorded, by approximately 1,650 less than the previous Friday.

Since March 1, when the first cases of covid-19 appeared in the Czech Republic, tests have confirmed the infection in more than 335,000 people. In October alone, the number of people infected increased by about 264,000. The number of deaths from people infected with coronavirus on Saturday rose by 104, the lowest daily increase in deaths in 11 days. On Friday, however, the number of deaths was a record according to updated data from the ministry.
Initially, the office said that 121 more people had died on Friday, but now the ministry has changed the number of deaths on Friday to 176, which is the highest daily increase during the entire epidemic. In October, a total of more than 2,500 people died with covid-19, representing most of the 3,251 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic.
The number of people with covid-19 who ended up in hospital also increased significantly in October. At the end of September, only about a thousand were hospitalized, while according to the latest data from the ministry, as of October 30, there were already almost 7,700 people in hospitals, of which 1,137 were in serious condition. For most infected people, however, the covid-19 is lighter. Currently, more than 188,000 people suffer from the disease, and only about four percent of them end up in hospitals.
The number of infected people increased most markedly last week in the Benešov region, where approximately 1303 new cases of covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants were recorded in the last seven days. The second highest increase was in the Pelhřimov region, where 1,097 new cases of infection per capita were confirmed per week.
