Cemeteries throughout the country will be open during Dušičky so that people can come and pay homage to their loved ones. Here too, however, government measures are in place to prevent the spread of covid-19. This means, above all, keeping the distance of two meters and wearing veils. Families that are used to going to the cemetery en masse about Dušičky should make an exception this year and divide into smaller groups.

“We ask visitors to cemeteries to choose the next working days for visits to the cemetery and the preparation of graves, and ideally the morning and early afternoon hours,” appeals the spokesperson of the Prague Cemetery Administration Oldřiška Dvořáčková. The goal is to spread traffic to reduce the risk of infection.
–
Opening hours
This should not be a big problem, because, for example, Prague cemeteries are open daily from 8 am to 6 pm until 2 November (inclusive). From November 3, the cemeteries will switch to the winter regime and close at 5 pm, when it is already dark, and visitors are at greater risk of injury to the cemetery.
–
Eventually, people will be able to buy flower decorations at the stalls in front of the cemeteries. Despite Dušičky, they were exempted from the original government restrictions, as well as stonemasonry.
–
Hygiene in every detail
Grave owners who will need to use watering cans or other aids and tools for their preparation and maintenance should, in their own interest, also bring protective gloves, such as rubber or plastic or disinfectant, to the cemetery.
–
The cemeteries are open, but do not plan a visit directly to Dušičky, the cemetery administration appeals
“Our last recommendation is that when buying candles, visitors prefer electronic candles, which are now commonly available, which last up to a month and completely eliminate the risk of burning flower decorations on graves, which we unfortunately also encounter to a greater extent during this period. , ”Recommends Dvořáčková.

The city police will supervise
In the following days, city police officers and patrols of the Police of the Czech Republic will check whether visitors to cemeteries comply with the prescribed security measures in the following days. According to Irena Seifertová, a spokeswoman for the Prague City Police, the police can solve their violations in three ways, by agreement, notification to an administrative body or a fine. Its amount can be up to 10,000 crowns.

You do not have to worry that the grave sites you rent will not be retained if the lease expires. We will extend the lease agreements to the existing tenants within 1 year from the end of the lease period.
—
In connection with a government decree, some cemetery administrations limit their office hours and ask citizens to try to resolve as many things as possible by email. “At the same time, you do not have to worry that the grave sites you rent will not be retained if the lease expires. We will extend the lease agreements to the existing tenants within 1 year from the end of the lease period. So don’t worry about postponing a visit to the cemetery administration for a quieter period, ”the Prague Cemeteries Administration, for example, assures on its website.

Funeral rites
As of October 22, the rules for proper mourning ceremonies have also changed. A maximum of 10 people can now take part. Even during the ceremony, the obligation to have a veil in all enclosed spaces applies. “This applies to mourning ceremonies, which take place in ceremonial halls, churches and chapels,” states, for example, the PegasCZ Funeral Institute on its website.
–
Funeral service providers then recommend to their clients that they go to the offices to arrange mourning ceremonies, if possible individually, not in larger groups. They point out that most services can only be ordered by phone or email.

Tribute to the memory of Karel Gott
This year’s Feast of All Saints is also the first opportunity to visit the tomb of Karel Gott in Malvazinky, Prague. Therefore, they expect a particularly large influx of visitors there. In the cemetery, therefore, city police patrols will oversee compliance with government regulations (especially spacing and not enslaving more people in one place). Even in this case, it is true that who can, should consider the date of visiting Slavík’s grave. The morning and morning hours, possibly weekdays, are ideal.
“For the graves of personalities who are often visited, we would really strongly recommend buying an electronic candle or flower instead of traditional candles,” emphasizes Oldřiška Dvořáčková, a spokeswoman for the Prague Cemeteries Administration.
