Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said the report on the Corona vaccine by Sinovac would be completed in January 2021. This is in line with meeting the vaccine needs for Indonesia.
According to him, to meet the need for vaccines the government has taken two approaches, namely the long and short term. For the short term, the government collaborates with various countries, one of which is a company from China, Sinovac Biotech Ltd.
Cooperation with Sinovac has been carried out for some time and the vaccine is currently in the final clinical trial stage. Thus, soon the results of clinical trials will be known whether they are qualified or not.
“With Sinovac for clinical trials 3, hopefully the report will come out in January,” said Retno, Sunday (1/11/2020).
Meanwhile, for the long term, he explained that the government would produce its own vaccine called the red and white vaccine. This domestically produced vaccine is expected to meet the needs of all Indonesian citizens and then it can also be sent abroad.
“In the middle of next year, we have a long-term red and white vaccine for the people of Indonesia and God willing, give it to the world,” he said.
He continued, for the supply of vaccine needs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) and other related parties.
This is considered very important, because vaccine supply requires a budget that is under the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati.
“My job as Foreign Minister is to open roads or open access so that I can get a commitment to access vaccines and Mrs. Ani (Sri Mulyani) performs calculations from the state budget,” he explained.
